Microcement

A thin mineral finish applied by hand in 5 to 7 layers over the floor you already have. The top layer is 1 to 2 mm thick. No joints, no demolition, no skip outside the building.

What it is

What is microcement

Microcement is applied by hand, in 5 to 7 layers, over what you already have: tiles, plasterboard, wood, marble or terrazzo. Nothing is torn out. The top layer is just 1 to 2 mm thick.

The surface is one continuous piece. No joints, no thresholds, no visible seam between floor and wall. We work with the panDOMO system from Germany's ARDEX and with the British FORCRETE system.

Because every layer is applied by hand with a trowel, no two rooms will turn out identical. The marks of the tool and slight variations in tone are part of the material, not a flaw. That is why you first see the materials and samples at our showroom. You can take a finished sample home and look at it in the light of your own space before we order anything.

We installed the first microcement floor in Serbia and the region in 2014. With the right protective topcoat it goes into bathrooms and showers, stands up to wear and sunlight, and works over underfloor heating. It can also be used outdoors.

Textures

Choose from three textures

One system, three different surface finishes. You choose the texture together with the colour, from samples at our showroom.

01

Classic

A smooth surface, an even tone and soft trowel marks. The most common choice for floors, walls and bathrooms when you want a calm backdrop. It comes in 42 standard colours, and for larger projects we also mix a custom colour.

02

Micro-Granite

A fine grain, evenly spread. The surface gains depth and you can feel it under your hand, yet it stays flat. Good for spaces with a lot of foot traffic. Eighteen types of stone and 42 base colours give 756 combinations.

03

Micro-Stone

A coarser grain, close to terrazzo, with clearly visible aggregate. The boldest of the three textures. For floors and walls that are meant to be noticed. Eleven types of coarse and eighteen types of fine stone, with 42 base colours, give 8,316 combinations.

Bathrooms and showers

A bathroom without joints.

Microcement can go inside the shower as well. We lay waterproofing beneath it and choose the protective topcoat according to how humid the room is. The surface stays mineral, lets vapour through and is easy to clean.

We make shower trays to measure, ready for microcement, with a linear or round drain. We finish the washbasin and bathtub in the same material, so the floor, wall and bath remain one surface without a single joint.

  • 01A waterproof system, with waterproofing beneath the microcement.
  • 02Made-to-measure shower trays, ready for microcement.
  • 03Linear or round drain, as the design requires.
  • 04Washbasins and bathtubs in the same material and tone.

02 / Hospitality

Lobbies, apartment bathrooms, spa areas and corridors that call for one unbroken surface.

03 / Retail

Flagship stores and boutiques that call for a quiet, neutral backdrop for the displays.

04 / Counters and furniture

Bar and kitchen counters, worktops and furniture, alongside floors and walls in the same material, with no visible transitions.

05 / Offices

Offices and commercial premises. Floor and wall surfaces that make a good impression and need little maintenance.

Installation process

Five steps, all by hand.

It all starts at your place, with an assessment of the space and the substrate. How long it takes depends on the floor area and on the condition of the substrate.

01

Samples

In our showroom you get to know the materials and choose the texture and colour from samples. You can take a finished sample home to see it in your own space.

02

Surface assessment

We look at what you have underneath and propose how to prepare it. This is where you find out whether there are any hidden costs.

03

Quote

You receive a detailed quote for all the work. Once you accept it, we order the material and book the dates.

04

Installation

Our team works on the agreed dates. The basic microcement system takes at least five days.

05

Handover

We walk through the space together and show you how to look after the floor. If you are moving in later, we can cover and protect the surfaces until you do, by arrangement.

FAQ

Common questions.

Microcement: answers to the questions we hear most often from clients and the designers behind their projects.

  • Three things move the price: the condition of the surface underneath, the size of the area, and whether the walls are done as well or only the floor. Small areas cost more per square metre, because the preparation is the same whatever the size. We give an exact price after a site visit, once we have seen what is underneath. Send us the floor area and what the space is used for, and we will come back to you with an estimate.
